And that’s what I wanna do through global medical diplomacy. And I’ve got a plan laid out, and really to develop that. And I think that is the kind of ideas and positive things that we have to do in this country to show the world that, you know, that we’re not this terrible country that’s trying to invade and be able to in any way change their way of life. We gotta show them that this is America; that we’re good, we’re positive, we’re strong, and we wanna protect you. And we wanna do what is right.

I think that it is good that this writer wants to use women and children to help get others involved because being a girl and child I feel like being involved in something so sufficient would be a huge lesson in life. I also want to be a doctor when I grow up so it would be great to be involved in a movement that helps get people better health. Having lived in America I agree to some extent that America is not bad, but having some past issues with the states I have changed my opinion in certain ways. I believe that everyone should be able to see things the way they want to and we cant force them to believe or think anything which goes back to our rights.
It is very good that this author uses women and providing security and medical help as an example of what life is all about. When he says “And that’s through women and children and using medical diplomacy” he is trying to say that whatever happens in life the ultimate goal is to protect ones family, “Whether you’re a Shiite, Sunni, Kurd, Hamaas, Hezbollah, Jewish member”
I completely agree with this statement. Tommy Thompson wants to show the rest of the world that America’s intentions in Iraq and Iran are not to cause trouble. He wants to prove to the world that America wants to help other nations have good health conditions.
Sure Amey, bombs are the best way to improve health conditions.
I don’t know what you are trying to get at. Are you saying we should unite everyone under healthcare? Your plan makes no sense.
I think that if people really look at history, they will know that “We’re good, we’re positive, and we’re strong”. Of course there is going to be strong opposition towards the strongest power in the world. Why does everyone want to go there if they do not think it is good? It is a wonderful idea to help others around the world medically. It is true that no matter who you are, you want to have a healthy life. America has always tried to help and bring freedom to other countries. I do not understand how people can think America tries to invade. You are right in wanting to change people’s outlook. I believe, although, that there will always be a burden in being right. America is not always right, but they have been right, and therefore have this burden.
This message sounds good, This man is trying to convince people that America is better than everone else. Near the end of the passage its starts to sound like a propaganda speach that is try to to promote how great america is. The idea that this man has sounds good but at the same time i can understand how the “people” might hate america. How would you like if someone just invaded your countrie???
Mr. Tommy Thompson has come up with an idea, which would solve the problem for many people who are currently living in poverty. Unfortunately it is not a simple as it sound. A lack of good ideas is not the problem, rather the execution of these. If Mr. Thompson would be able to extend this project to the whole world with success, it would be one of the most positive improvement to the living standards for the millions living in poverty. I support your idea, but until I can see the change in the world, I wont consider it a being efficient. Instead of stating that america will do this, I recommend that you work together with the world and not try to make the americans look like heros. It is not about who is going to find the solution, rather that we find one.

Amey so what are the intentions of the Iraq war? if the want a peaceful solution they should retreat and let the UN figure out the conflicts that are going on. If i may remind you that the reason for the unrest was caused by the US. Please reply i would love to know how wrong i am informed.

After reading this blog, I must ask myself, what was the original point? It seems to me that the governor is attempting to lightly tap the true vision of his plan. Maybe I’ve misread and maybe I have misinterpreted but it sounds like the former Governor of Wisconsin Tommy Thompson is trying to buy the Middle East’s approval, its as if he’s saying, love us and we’ll help your wives and children, hate us and we leave you to fend for yourselves. Help should not be based on wether or not a countries political system agrees with yours, it should be about helping the indiviual people. Only then can you seriously expect a change.
After reading this I have to agree with the Governor of Wisconsons position on the War in Iraq. By giving the the people in Iraq proper health care we can give the people hope,health, and a chance for a better life. However I do not believe this is possible due to the fact that our troops in Iraq need proper health care as well, and at the moment we do not have the means to provide both our soldiers and the Iraqi people health care. And as we know our American troops are of the utmost importance to us.
Julian just a bit? It might be that we are uninformed. Could someone please clarify to us if we are wrong with thinking that the US has only caused problems in Iraq

Governor Thompson is completely full of crap. They wouldn’t need healthcare if we quit dropping bombs on them. He has all the flower children like Julian and Alaina ready to drink the red white and blue kool aid.

I don’t see your point about the women and children part of this. Do you want to use women and children as advertisement to get or show more medical care? Or do you want to get america and every nation to help women or children with medical care? The idea that america is hated is known. But the main reason for that are the wars fought, the racial discriminations, america founding and being a “fast-food-nation” and President George W. Bush. So my thought about america, it has to better its reputation. And it could start with escalating out of wars. And then, if this turns into success, try to repair all the mistakes made; gain trusts and support back.
Another thing i didn’t quite understand, was your part about the “movement across the world”. Are you saying : you want a movement across the world to gather people together to support america? Because movements for better causes are already active. Such as the “Invisible Children Movement”. The project to help child soldiers in Northern Uganda. A movement to try to get more voices to gain more support to help people without anything. The thing that you wrote, my opinion, makes it seem like you are saying you want a movement o support america. When america already has money, and has enough power and properties.
I thought that the Vietnamese people were jumping in boats trying to escape. America was trying to help these people.

Thats the problem, America attempts to distract their own people with ideas of how to make themselves beloved by all without focusing on the true issue of these current times. America is on the brink of another depression, China is on the rise, Africa is still in turmoil yet we still all let our politicians sit around and discuss how to save face!!
